Dogeared Founder Marcia Maizel-Clarke cleaned out her closet for a cause donating a covetable collection of designer duds to Fashion Project. This amazing retailer uses fashion as a force for good making giving back glamorous. Marcia’s swoon-worthy selection includes styles from Vince, Rebecca Taylor, Diane Von Furstenberg and, of course, Dogeared… and all profits go to One Voice, a Los Angeles nonprofit she is so passionate about and been working with for over 20 years.
‘Tis the season to give back! Every year, Dogeared co-founders Marcia & Merlin head up one of the giveaway centers for the One Voice Holiday Program in Los Angeles – a non profit organization helping families living at poverty level within our community. Many of the staff and family and friends of Dogeared join hundreds of volunteers to participate in this amazing event that provides Christmas food baskets, toys and books to 2,500 families.
In the spirit of the holidays, each child receives gifts given personally by Santa and every family takes home a basket overflowing with all the makings of a wonderful holiday meal: a turkey, rolls, carrots, squash, potatoes, yams, onions, rice, beans, bags of apples and oranges, candy, a fresh apple pie and canned goods. Each year, Dogeared helps package much of the food in our amazing tote bags to deliver the holiday packages with love!

Dogeared is constantly learning about the flow of karma in our lives. Case in point: we have worked closely with One Voice, an L.A. based nonprofit, since 1991. One Voice provides assistance to low-income families, including scholarship assistance to young adults in need. In 1992, Leticia, who came from a family of 11, was one of the first recipients of a One Voice scholarship. No one in Leticia’s family had been to college before – yet this bright and determined young woman attended Wellesley College thanks to this remarkable program. One Voice contacted Leticia, and recently, Dogeared received a surprise visit from her. It was a delight to learn that she is the mother to two children and works as a guidance counselor in Torrance – now helping other young adults prepare for their futures. Leticia has come full circle…and we’re privileged and proud to be part of such an outstanding human being’s journey.
