Travel Diaries: Cambodia
Merlin Clarke, Owner and Head of Happenings at Dogeared, and his daughter, Grace, recently took a give-back trip to Cambodia to spend time at Hope for Justice, an organization dedicated to ending human trafficking and slavery among young women around the world.
Bright Pink
This year, Dogeared is honored to support Bright Pink, the only national non-profit focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.
Do Good Bus
So imagine boarding a big yellow school bus with 30 of your coworkers knowing you’re headed to a volunteer day but have no idea where! That’s one of the many reasons why we love working with the Do Good Bus. They provide a fun and exciting way to bring communities together to give back.
“At Dogeared, we feel the responsibility to do good and give back is just as important for our business as it is on a personal level. Working with the Do Good Bus allows us to give something back as a team to our local communities, while honoring our commitment to social and environmental change. Our team is able to bond and connect, have fun and grow and learn on new levels while contributing to the greater good.” – Merlin Clarke, Dogeared Co-Founder
We were dropped off at the Best Friends Animal Society in Mission Hills. An incredible No Kill facility and non-profit that operates the nation’s largest sanctuary for homeless animals and provides adoption, spay/neuter and educational programs. We spent the day lending lots of helping hands wherever needed. It was a great day using business as a force for good!
USA Love
As we head into the 4th of July weekend, we’re feeling excitement, patriotism and we’re ready to celebrate! We’ve been rooting on Team USA in the World Cup and we’re definitely feeling the USA love around Dogeared these days. But, it’s YOUR love has kept our dreams alive! Because of you, our commitment as a certified B Corporation to create a beautiful community and meaningful handcrafted designs in the USA has never been stronger.
3 Girls. 3 Wishes.
At Dogeared, a large part of our corporate culture is shaped by supporting our community and giving back – through volunteering, partnerships and financial support. For the past two years, Dogeared has enjoyed an incredible partnership with Step Up, a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to inspiring girls to fulfill their potential. Step Up offers after-school and weekend programs to empower teen girls from under-resourced communities to be confident, college-bound and career-ready. Many of these teens face challenging life circumstances and Step Up ensures that they stay in school, helping guide their futures to break the cycle of poverty frequently helping them be the first in their family to attend college. Step Up recruits an extensive network of professional women to invest in the future success of these girls through mentorship and financial support. Step Up projects that for a fifth straight school year, 100% of seniors will graduate high school and be accepted to college!
Inspiration Awards 2014
Dogeared was so honored to once again be a sponsor at the 11th Annual Inspiration Awards hosted by Step Up Women’s Network. The day brought together a room of nearly 900 amazing women to celebrate inspiring young girls who have worked so hard to overcome, grow and step into a new chapter in their life. Their stories are heartfelt, their obstacles and challenges monumental and their success inspiring. These young women provide so much to all of us who have had the honor to see them grow and to share in their journey. Dogeared is so grateful to partner with Step Up and help foster their vision… inspiring women to inspire girls.

Elephants In My Backyard
Dogeared was proud to be a corporate sponsor of the first annual Elephants In My Backyard cocktail reception benefiting orphaned elephants through the U.S. Friends of David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and its wilderness, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is today the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world and one of the pioneering conservation organisations for wildlife and habitat protection in East Africa.
The event was hosted at the W Hotel in Hollywood and included a fun night of raffles, prize giveaways and thousands of dollars raised for the charity. To date the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has successfully hand-raised over 150 orphaned infant elephants in East Africa. Dogeared is thrilled to have had the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause.
Meet the elephants, see their precious photos and stay connected on Facebook!
LA Food Bank
The Dogeared.com team was so honored to volunteer Wednesday afternoon at the LA Regional Food Bank – the hub for food distribution that has provided over 1 billion pounds of food since its founding 40 years ago. The team sorted and packed incoming donations of food from everyone from distributors, growers, food manufacturers and personal donations, providing shelters, soup kitchens, school programs, food pantries and senior centers with necessary food for families in need.
