One Voice

Dogeared is constantly learning about the flow of karma in our lives. Case in point: we have worked closely with One Voice, an L.A. based nonprofit, since 1991. One Voice provides assistance to low-income families, including scholarship assistance to young adults in need. In 1992, Leticia, who came from a family of 11, was one of the first recipients of a One Voice scholarship. No one in Leticia’s family had been to college before – yet this bright and determined young woman attended Wellesley College thanks to this remarkable program. One Voice contacted Leticia, and recently, Dogeared received a surprise visit from her. It was a delight to learn that she is the mother to two children and works as a guidance counselor in Torrance – now helping other young adults prepare for their futures. Leticia has come full circle…and we’re privileged and proud to be part of such an outstanding human being’s journey.

Merlin was intrigued by their humility and egalitarian way of life, but even more taken aback by their respect to all walks of life.

Stand Up 2 Cancer

Stand Up 2 Cancer, one of Dogeared’s newest non-profit partners, is “a movement created to raise funds to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.”

Elizabeth, our sales director, and Malissa, web director, went out to Angels’ Stadium bright and early this past Sunday to participate in the MLB 5K Run/Walk benefiting Stand Up to Cancer.

Dogeared was part of television history on September 10th at the Stand Up 2 Cancer TV broadcast! It was a primetime fundraising event supporting collaborative cancer research and a grassroots movement to end cancer forever. The celebs were out for this star-studded event—and they were studded in Dogeared jewels!

Marcia and Merlin Clarke, Dogeared’s owners, were delighted when they were asked to create the official necklace of the evening, and gave a one to all the stars at the show!
